Winter Driving

Post #1 by Aliaalu » Sun Sep 01, 2013 11:28 pm

Advice please....

Love the snow but discovered that my car was useless in it last winter, I'm currently driving a New Ford Focus. I felt that my OHs wee runaround 2011 Ka handled the snow and ice great.

I am working as a community midwife, having left the balmy heat of the hospital recently and instead spending most of my day on the road in a mix of hilly rural and urban areas and on call day and night for homebirths. As you can imagine its not the sort of job that you can easily take a 'snow day' if needed, these babies don't wait! Already feeling nervous about driving this winter so any advice or tips please on driving in snow/ice/slush? I think I will pinch OHs KA, already planned to from a fuel viewpoint, is it worth getting winter tyres on it (don't really have the funds), or has anyone tried snow socks or that tyre tread spray?

Unashamed to admit I am 100% a woman driver! :ymdaydream:
